NCC Student Projects
During the spring of 2013, 27 architecture and interior design students from Jacek Bigosinksi’s architecture classes at Norwalk Community College worked together to create designs for the Art House. After an overview of the concepts of sustainable development and the goals of the Art House, they envisioned the interior and exterior design of the building. Their projects were presented during the students’ midterm reviews on February 21, 2013. Final presentations took place on March 14, 2013, before a jury of experts. The best designs were chosen for further review and possible incorporation into the final vision for the Art House.
The Presentation & Judging
On March 14, 2013, the students from Jacek Bigosinski’s Norwalk Community College Art, Architecture + Design program presented their final design ideas for transforming the postal garage depot. During a festive evening at the Art House, the students showcased their design drawings and models for an appreciative audience of family and friends. Four judges also viewed the designs: Janet Lindstrom of the New Canaan Historical Society, Leslee Asch of the Silvermine Arts Center, architect Laszlo Papp, and Brian Platz, chief building inspector for New Canaan. The judges evaluated the designs and chose four overall winners and six runners-up.
Overall Winners were Wonsun Oh, Aliaksandr Melko, Dominika Fronckiewicz, and Tetyana Fen.
The Honorable Mention winners were:
